16 Ean 2024, 15:30

The Joint Committee on Health will meet on Wednesday, 17th January for consideration of the proposals for Families for Reform of CAMHS at 9:30am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.

The meeting will hear from representatives from the Families for Reform of CAMHS.

Speaking ahead of the meeting Committee Cathaoirleach Seán Crowe TD said “our Committee welcome the representatives from Families for Reform of CAMHS to the meeting tomorrow. This group advocates of behalf of families of children nationwide that are struggling to access services by the current CAMHS system.

“In the past 12 months, reports from the Mental Health Commission and the United Nations Committee on the Rights of the Child have highlighted serious concerns about the insufficient and inadequate mental health services for children. Our engagement with the Families for Reform representatives tomorrow will allow us to get a clearer indication what exactly the families who are reliant on CAMHS need and what they would like implemented in order to improve the services.”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
