Joint Committee on Health to meet for consideration of the health needs of persons with dementia and the services available for them

6 Feabh 2024, 17:25

The Joint Committee on Health will meet on Wednesday, 7th February for consideration of the health needs of persons with dementia and the services available for them at 9:30am in Committee Room 2 of Leinster House.

The Committee will hear from representatives from the Alzheimers Society of Ireland and Family Carers Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Seán Crowe said “the meeting tomorrow allows the Committee to get first-hand detail on the needs and services in place for persons with dementia. We will seek further information on what measures the representatives from the Alzheimers Society of Ireland and Family Carers Ireland would implement in order to enhance the services currently in place.

“The meeting tomorrow also follows on from the The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’s announcement last week that it will host its annual nationwide Denim Day for Dementia fundraising campaign on Friday, 1st March, to raise funds for families impacted by dementia.”

The meeting in Committee Room 2 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
