Joint Committee on Health to meet for consideration of public health and the commercial determinants of health

“The Committee will hear first from Hildegarde Naughton, Minister of State at the Department of Taoiseach and at the Department of Health, and then from the Health Promotion Alliance, and Dr Norah Campbell.

Speaking ahead of the meeting, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Seán Crowe said “the meeting tomorrow will focus broadly on public health and the varying elements that are integral in the health of the country’s population. We will look for details on how chronic disease is being addressed from those attending tomorrow and examine the direct influence of commerce on the nation’s health. We will ask what measures can be implemented both short and long-term to address the pressures these factors place on the health service.”
