Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss Circular Economy following signing into law of Circular Economy Act in 2022 with Minister of State Smyth

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 30 April, for an engagement on the current state of play in relation to the Circular Economy following on from the signing into law of the Circular Economy Act in 2022.

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from Ossian Smyth TD, Minister of State at the Department of Public Expenditure, National Development Plan Delivery and Reform and at the Department of Environment, Climate and Communications. 

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The Circular Economy Act has been in operation for nearly two years now and provides for key measures in shifting Ireland towards a more sustainable pattern of production and consumption.

“The Committee welcomes this opportunity to review the operation of the Act with Minister of State Smyth and looks forward to a wide-ranging and detailed discussion on how the legislation is working and contributing to the development of a circular economy in Ireland.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
