The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 20 April, to examine the Comptroller and Auditor General’s 2019 Appropriation Accounts for the Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine.
The meeting at 6.30pm, chaired by Deputy Brian Stanley, will be broadcast from Committee Room 4 of Leinster House and will examine:
- Appropriation Accounts – Vote 30 (Agriculture, Food and the Marine);
- C&AG 2019 report – Chapter 10: Financial management and reporting for fishery harbour centres;
- Fishery Harbour Centres Financial Statements 2019.
The Committee will hear first from the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy, followed by officials from the Department, led by the Secretary General, Brendan Gleeson.
Deputy Stanley said: “The Department of Agriculture, Food and the Marine is responsible for managing our farming, food and fisheries, which are key sectors in our national and rural economies. In 2019, the Department had voted expenditure of €1.6 billion and also managed the disbursement of a further €1.3 billion in EU funding.
“We will examine this expenditure as well as financial management and reporting for fishery harbour centres and expenditure on the TB eradication scheme. The Committee looks forward to discussing these issues and other matters raised by the C&AG with the Department.”
