Oireachtas Committee meets with Ad-Hoc Group for North-South and East-West Cooperation

The Joint Committee on the Implementation of the Good Friday Agreement will hear from representatives from the Ad-Hoc Group for North-South and East-West Cooperation at a meeting tomorrow, Tuesday, 28 September in Leinster House, Committee Room 3 at 9:30 am.

Representatives in attendance will be:

  • Dr Anthony Soares, Convenor
  • Tara Farrell, CEO Longford Women’s Link
  • Aoife Ní Lochlainn, Brexit Policy Officer, Irish Environmental Network
  • Chris Quinn, Director, Northern Ireland Youth Forum

Speaking before the meeting, Committee Leas-Chathaoirleach James Lawless TD said: “The Committee welcomes the opportunity to engage with the Ad-Hoc Group on North South and East West Cooperation, and look forward to insights of its representatives on matters relating to ongoing cooperation with the UK and Ireland, particularly in the context of the implementation of the Protocol.”

The Leas-Chathaoirleach added: “The Committee is crucially aware that it is very important that the Protocol work as smoothly as possible for Northern Ireland, giving everyone, including businesses, the opportunity to achieve their goals.”
