Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to resume discussions on Energy Charter Treaty, Energy Security, Liquid Natural Gas and Data Centres

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 5 October, to resume discussions on the Energy Charter Treaty, Energy Security, Liquid Natural Gas and Data Centres.

The meeting at 3pm in Committee Room 1 of Leinster House will hear from:

·       Professor Barry McMullin, Dublin City University;

·       Representatives from the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU); and

·       Representatives from Eirgrid.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Our first meeting last week on these issues of political and public concern generated interesting information and debate, particularly on future energy supply and security. We now look forward to discussing these and related matters with Prof McMullin, the CRU and Eirgrid as we examine the long-term implications for managing climate change and reducing emissions.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
