Committee of Public Accounts to examine 2020 Financial Statements with Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland

23 Márta 2022, 15:30

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 24 March, with representatives of the Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland (SEAI) to examine its 2020 Financial Statements.

The meeting at 9.30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be joined by the C&AG, Seamus McCarthy.

The afternoon session, beginning at 1.30pm, will consider the minutes of the PAC meeting of 10 March, correspondence and other business of the Committee.

PAC Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Stanley said: “The Sustainable Energy Authority of Ireland is a semi-State body established to promote and aid in the development of sustainable energy. Its main objectives are to ensure the implementation and adoption of energy efficiency across all sectors, as well as the development of new technology for use with renewable energy sources, and the decarbonisation of the Irish energy supply.

“The SEAI’s expenditure in 2020 was approximately €152m, the majority of which relates to the 18 programmes which it manages such as Electric Vehicles, Better Energy Warmer Homes, Better Energy Homes and other areas. The Committee looks forward to discussing this expenditure and related matters with the representatives of the SEAI.”

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

PAC is a standing committee of Dáil Éireann which focuses on ensuring public services are run efficiently and achieve value for money. Further information on the role and remit of the Committee can be found here.
