Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to discuss removal of members from Board of Inland Fisheries Ireland with Minister Eamon Ryan

6 Márta 2023, 15:45

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 7 March, with the Minister for Environment, Climate and Communications; and Transport, Eamon Ryan TD, to discuss the removal of members from the Board of Inland Fisheries Ireland.

Speaking ahead of the meeting at 12.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House, Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “Under the Inland Fisheries Act 2010, the Committee nominates three people to the Minister for appointment to the Board of Inland Fisheries Ireland. In recent months, a number of resignations left the Board without a quorum and thus unable to carry out its statutory functions. The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Minister Ryan to hear an update on the matter and discuss the appointment of a new Board, including the Committee’s role in the process.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
