Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action to meet with Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) for general update

8 Beal 2023, 15:30

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action will meet tomorrow, Tuesday, 9 May, with representatives of the Commission for Regulation of Utilities (CRU) for a general update.

The meeting at 11am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will hear from Mr Jim Gannon, Chairperson of the CRU, and senior colleagues.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Leddin said: “The Committee meets with the CRU on a regular basis for an update on its work as part of our general oversight responsibilities.  At our previous engagement in January we discussed energy security and supply and the impact of high energy prices on domestic customers and businesses and measures to protect vulnerable customers.

“Areas of interest for this meeting include further updates on these matters, discussion on the large energy user rebalancing process, and the transparency of hedging approaches adopted by different companies. The Committee looks forward to discussing these and related matters with Mr Gannon and his colleagues.”

The Joint Committee on Environment and Climate Action has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.

The meeting in Committee Room 3 can be viewed live on Oireachtas TV.

Committee proceedings can also be viewed on the Houses of the Oireachtas Smartphone App, available for Apple and Android devices.
